This page explains what happens to your details when you use doubtfirst.com. In short: I only collect your email address if you give it to me, this site uses no cookies, and I never sell your details.
Who runs this site
doubtfirst.com and the Doubt First channels are run by Doubt First, which is responsible for your details (the "data controller"). You can reach me at contact@doubtfirst.com.
What I collect
- Your email address, if you sign up for the free Family Checklist. You get one email to confirm it, and nothing more is sent until you click its button.
- Whether you open my emails and click their links. The email service records this, so I can see which emails are useful.
- Anything you send me, if you email contact@doubtfirst.com.
- Your IP address, for a moment: the company that hosts this site needs it to send you the pages and to block attacks. There are no visit counters, no cookies, no advertising and no tracking across other websites.
Why, and on what legal basis
- To send you the checklist and, occasionally, a warning about a big new scam. The legal basis is your consent, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.
- To answer your emails, and to keep this site running and safe. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in doing both.
Who else handles it
- Kit (kit.com) stores the email list and sends the emails for me.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- Zoho Mail (zoho.eu) is where emails sent to contact@doubtfirst.com arrive, in its European data centre.
Kit and Cloudflare are based in the United States, so your details may be stored outside the UK and the EU, under the safeguards the law requires (for example, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework). I never sell your details or share them with anyone else.
How long I keep it
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it.
- Emails you send me: up to 2 years, unless you ask me to delete them sooner.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or object to how I use them. To ask, email contact@doubtfirst.com.
You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Europe, the data protection authority in your country; in the UK, the ICO at ico.org.uk; or the authority where you live.
Children
The checklist and emails are meant for adults. If you're under 16, please don't sign up.
Something to remember
I will never message you first, ask you for money, or ask for personal details. If an email that looks like it's from Doubt First does any of these, it isn't me.
